BACKGROUND
Centre for Safe Motherhood, Youth and Child Organization (CESMYCO) is an indigenous local Non-Governmental organization established in 1999 by a well meaning Sierra Leonean under the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Laurel E.A. Bangura – Founder and Executive Director. CESMYCO serves as the National Committee for the Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices Affecting the Health of Women and Children (IAC-CIAF).
CESMYCO serves as an advocate and catalyst for change aimed at improving the status of women, children and youth. Through a participatory approach, CESMYCO works to increase public awareness, implement community-based initiatives for health care and education, and advocate for stronger laws and policies supporting gender equality, development, and the empowerment of women and girls.
CESMYCO is legally registered with the Government of Sierra Leone through the line Ministries. CESMYCO is also a registered member of the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organization (SLANGO).
